Ceramic Automotive Window Tinting

Here at Empire Window Tinting we pride ourselves on offering a premium product made by Global Window Films that is unmatched by other providers.

Ceramic tint uses advanced technology to produce by far the most superior film available. These unique window films will achieve the highest heat rejection possible by blocking up to 91% of the Infrared heat which is radiating from the sun. Infrared heat is the burning feeling from the sun, that you can feel coming through your glass windows but cannot see it.

Drop into our office and feel the difference between Ceramic & standard tint on our interactive heat source. There is no better way to appreciate Ceramic tint than to feel the benefits for yourself.

What shade should I choose?

While we don't ask that you tell us what shade you want when booking it's never a bad idea to start thinking about it before your appointment. When the time does come for your appointment, we will show you in person the five different shades we stock in our Global Ceramic film. We will explain your darkest legal options and show you our other films as well. It is then up to you to make an informed decision on what film shades to install.

Unlike many other tint shops, we also will not charge you more to go darker than legal. Regardless of whether you choose clear, legal or darker, your quoted price will not change.

To give you an idea before your appointment, here's an idea of what our five different automotive film shades look like.

We stock a "clear" film which allows 70% natural light through it and is used on sunroofs, windscreens and privacy glass. We then stock a two toned darkest legal option, with 42% for the front windows and 33% for the rear windows. We also have two shades darker than legal. Our most popular shade 18% and then our darkest shade, 5% or also known as "limo" tint. Please note, that while the film may be called Ceramic 42% for example, once installed on glass it will read darker (around 35%) on a light meter, it is for this reason we use a lighter shade for darkest legal so that there will be no legality issues.

What to Expect, Aftercare and Maintenance

Maintaining your tinted windows starts at day one. With all fresh window tinting we ask our customers to leave their windows up for at least one hour after collecting your vehicle. You will notice that your windows may look slightly blurred, they will need time for the adhesive to dry properly so we ask you to leave your car in the sun as much as possible over the next 24-48 hours. While we do our best to remove all of the moisture during installation, a small amount will always remain. We usually allow one to two weeks for the adhesive to fully dry, during this time please ensure you do not clean your windows, remembering that tint is placed on the inside of the window.

Please note that if baby seats were installed when you arrived they may have been uninstalled and moved to allow us access to the rear screen, these will not have been re-installed upon collection due to insurance purposes, however will still be in the car upside down.

Also note that if you have any dash cameras etc on your front/rear screens these may need to be removed in order to tint the windows. If these have been removed the device will usually be left near the centre console of the car. Please allow at least a week for the tint to dry before reinstalling them.

When it does come time to start cleaning your windows, after the one to two weeks have passed, ensure you use a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid anything that will scratch the tint, especially paper towel, old t-shirts, rags, abrasive sponges etc. Always ensure you only use a clean microfiber cloth so that there is no trapped dust or dirt to cause scratching. Ensure you don’t use any abrasive solutions to clean your newly tinted windows. Just keep it simple and use only clean soapy water, or look for “Tint Safe” window cleaners, ensuring that you stay away from any cleaners that contain ammonia.

Although our Global Window Film comes with a limited lifetime manufacturer warranty against fading, peeling and bubbling, the moisture that can remain between the tint and the glass can cause a hazy, streaky or blotchy appearance. Once the recommended one to two weeks have passed the adhesive should be completely dry and windows should return to normal. While we are happy to fix any major issues (raised within the first month after install) there is however a certain amount of acceptable contamination that will always occur due to tiny dust particles in the air that is unavoidable. If you do have any questions or issues, please wait the allocated time before bringing the car in for us to inspect, sometimes they will be as simple as water bubbles that have not dried out yet.

Please also remember that if you brought your car in to have old tint removed, or if it is an older model, that there is always an element of dirt and dust and it is impossible to eliminate every speck. It is for this reason that we do not offer a mobile tinting service as you cannot guarantee the quality of finish in an uncontrollable environment. Also be aware that if we are removing existing tint on the rear screen there is a possibility that your demisters may be damaged in the process, causing a discolouration. While we endeavour not to incur any damage, once we begin we are unable to stop and this is not something that can be fixed unless the rear screen is replaced, at your own cost.

While tinting your windscreen is a great add-on for the ultimate in heat and UV rejection, windscreen tinting in QLD is not legal and is not installed by every window tinter. Windscreens are one huge piece of glass that will not have a perfect finish to them due to the size and complexity of the job, including navigating the dash, steering wheel, rear view mirrors etc. While we attempt our best on every installation as mentioned above there is always an acceptable element of contamination in every tint job. At the end of the day, tint, like glass, is made to be looked through and not at and industry standard states that contamination is deemed unacceptable if it can be seen at a distance of 1.5m from the vehicle.

While we do offer certain extras that may not be legal we do explain these legalities to our customers and it is up to the registered owner to maintain a road worthy vehicle. By tinting your car with Empire Window Tinting, you accept that darkest legal has been explained to you and that going darker is your decision and that any additional extras may not be legal, and Empire Window Tinting cannot be held liable for your decisions.
